School History

Mr. Butler was a long-time Florin resident who spent most of his life involved in schools. He was a trustee of both the Florin district and that of Elk Grove Union High School. He was also a custodian and a bus driver – a true caretaker of public schools. Mr. Butler celebrated his 101st birthday in November of 1995, and he passed away in 1997. The first Arthur Butler School, located on Butler Drive, in Vintage Park, housed K-6 students from 1991 until the middle of the 1995-96 school year when the students were moved to the newly constructed Maeola Beitzel Elementary. Environmental problems related to protected vernal pools halted both housing and school facility construction in the area around the school site. In 1998 the new Arthur Butler School was opened on Brown Road.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

  • Entering/Exiting Campus: To ensure the safety of all students, the Butler campus will remain closed during school hours.  Caregivers may drop off and pick up students from their vehicle or outside of the campus gates.  Kinder students will enter and exit from the Kinder Gate while 1st-6th grade students will enter and exit from the Main Gate.
  • Drivers: We have one lane entering and exiting our school’s parking lot.  The following procedures allow for safe, responsible, and respectful practices during arrival and dismissal:
    • As you enter our parking lot, please notice the red zone with the NO PARKING sign. This area must remain clear for emergency vehicles.
    • The next sign indicates the area for NO PICKUP OR DROP OFF. Students need to remain in the vehicle until they reach the SAFE drop-off and pick-up line, which is in front of the Multi-Purpose room and highlighted by the yellow curb area for DROP OFF and PICKUP ONLY.
    • Once you enter the drop-off and pick-up line, please pull up to the third sign which indicates the area as a NO PARKING area, and to PLEASE PULL FORWARD.
    • The final sign is presented as you exit the site and asks that all vehicles TURN RIGHT. There is NO left turn out of the school.  There are no exceptions to this policy.
    • If you need to get out of your vehicle for any reason, please move into one of our parking spots.
  • Walkers: Please use the designated crosswalks for movement to and from campus.
    • We ask that ALL ADULTS model safe behavior for our children by complying with this request and using the crosswalks.
    • Please DO NOT jaywalk or cross from the parking lot into our school campus by walking through both lanes of moving traffic.
  • Bicycles, Scooters, Skates, and Skateboards: A bicycle storage area is furnished for students who want to ride to school.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO LOCK THEIR EQUIPMENT IN THE STORAGE AREA AT SCHOOL.  The bike area remains locked during the school day, but the school cannot assume responsibility for bikes, scooters, skates, and skateboards.  Please walk all bikes, scooters, skates, and skateboards at all times while on the school grounds.  Students who ride on campus may have their privileges revoked.

Students not picked up on time will be brought to the office. Parents will need to come to the office to sign them out.
