Mr. Butler was a long-time Florin resident who spent most of his life involved in schools. He was a trustee of both the Florin district and that of Elk Grove Union High School. He was also a custodian and a bus driver – a true caretaker of public schools. Mr. Butler celebrated his 101st birthday in November of 1995, and he passed away in 1997. The first Arthur Butler School, located on Butler Drive, in Vintage Park, housed K-6 students from 1991 until the middle of the 1995-96 school year when the students were moved to the newly constructed Maeola Beitzel Elementary. Environmental problems related to protected vernal pools halted both housing and school facility construction in the area around the school site. In 1998 the new Arthur Butler School was opened on Brown Road.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Drivers: There is one lane entering and exiting our school’s parking lot. The following procedures will allow for safe, responsible, and respectful practices during arrival and dismissal:
- The red zone at the parking lot entrance is not a pickup or drop off area. This area must remain clear for emergency vehicles.
- Students remain in the vehicles until they reach the safe drop off and pick up line, which is in front of the multi-purpose room and highlighted by the yellow curb area for DROP OFF and PICK UP ONLY.
- Please pull forward as you enter the drop off/pick up lane.
- There is NO left turn out of the school. There are no exceptions to this policy.
- If you need to get out of your vehicle for any reason, please move into one of our parking spots.
- Drivers are expected to follow all local traffic safety rules AND the directions of school personnel responsible for school safety. Do not double park, release your child from your car while in a lane of traffic, make illegal U-turns in front of the school, drive on the curbs, stop in a red zone, or make unauthorized use of a handicapped space. You can and will be cited by local law enforcement for violating these laws.
- We will not take safety risks for drivers that are in a hurry because of personal timing issues. At Butler, classroom teachers supervise the campus before and after school each day. They are there for the safety of all students and should be treated respectfully.. Please make an appointment to speak with a school administrator if you would like to discuss arrival and dismissal procedures.
Walkers: Please use the crosswalks that are designated for moving onto and off of campus.
- Supervising adults with stop signs are at crosswalks before and after school to ensure that students and adults are kept safe as they arrive or leave campus. We ask that ALL ADULTS model safe behavior for our children by complying with this request, and using the crosswalks.
Bicycles, Scooters, Skates, and Skateboards: It is the responsibility of the student to lock his/her equipment in the storage area at the front of the school. The bike area remains locked during the school day. The school does not assume responsibility for bikes, scooters, skates, and skateboards. All wheeled transportation is to be walked while on school grounds.
Students not picked up on time will be brought to the office. Parents will need to come to the office to sign them out.
